BRANDING

You no longer recognise your brand and your audience judges you in a way you don’t like

It all used to be fine. You knew who you were, were proud of what you did and were seen as a serious player.

But over time, various strategic decisions have been made. You no longer do what you did before, the market’s needs have changed and you don’t resonate with them in the way you used to. It’s harder to be considered in the same tier as before and you’re gradually slipping down the pecking order. Every year it gets trickier to maintain business, yet alone grow, and even harder to compete at a price premium as you find your margins getting squished smaller and smaller.

We can help you reconnect with your market and be the best ‘you’.

How we approach a rebrand

The design element of a branding project comes a lot later than you might think. With us it all starts with hard questions, about you, your audience, the marketplace, and what’s led us to here.

DISCOVERY & POSITIONING

We’ll ask awkward pointy questions and workshop with your SLT to find out who you really are

BRAND ARCHITECTURE

Auditing what’s working, what’s not, what’s got to change and what can we keep and re-use (or gently tweak)

CREATIVE DEVELOPMENT

Starting to bring a few routes to life and exploring what your company could become

ROLLOUT

Fleshing out the new brand, rolling it out across a range of assets and creating clear guidelines for its use

We won’t make you jump through millions of hoops and abide by a tedious rigid process. It’s just grown-up conversations, clear thinking and honest guidance, to help you get to where you need to be.

With corporate branding challenges such as…

CCI

Rapid growth to become a market leading brand

Following extensive research, competitor analysis and positioning, we worked with their leadership team (and our friends at Bright) to completely overhaul how CCi looked, talked about itself and was percevied by the market.

LONDON CITY AIRPORT

Increasing brand awareness & sales

Looking at data of their passengers (with our friends at Bright) it became clear there was the opportunity for significant growth from leisure flyers, with the key benefit over other airports being convenience and the time it saved them. We took these learnings and created an advertising campaign (both print and digital) to hammer this home. Coupled with a new website, that also promoted offerings of London City Airport and their own services more (eg: car parking), sales dramatically increased over the following 12 months.

ARMAKUNI

Positioning the brand for growth and exit

Through a series of workshops with the senior leadership team, we helped to create a stronger positioning and visual expression of that, giving Armakuni a new look that helped the company to grow and become attractive to buyers (being bought by Simform in 2024).

Branding FAQs

DO I NEED A REBRAND?
To be blunt, probably not. A refresh is often more appropriate. But there are times when a rebrand is needed, such as when what you do, how you do it, who you do it for or where you do it has changed, or when you are no longer perceived as being relevant to your market. A classic time for this question to be discussed is often when new management comes in as a rebrand can help justify a higher price.
WHAT’S the difference between a rebrand and a refresh?
A rebrand is the more radical option and will often include a brand new name and / or mark. It’s usually done when the business is going through a radical change. A refresh usually consists of updating and improving the visual identity of the company, making it look fresher and more up to date, but still recognisably itself (although rebrand is also, confusingly, used to describe this).
Will we lose existing customers / brand equity?
Maybe. But then every change you make (or don’t make) as a business also affects this. This is a key part of the discussions before anything takes place. What do we want to keep and why? What resonates with our audience? Are the customers we have the ones we want to have in the future? Why are we doing this in the first place, what are we trying to achieve? There are times when you want to keep as much brand equity as possible, in which case a refresh is probably more what you’re looking at. But there are other times when getting rid of the brand equity is the exact reason for undergoing a rebrand.
HOW MUCH DOES A REBRAND (or refresh) COST?
It can vary enormously based on a range of factors, but would usually start at £60K+.
HOW LONG DOES A REBRAND TAKE?
Easily around 6 months, sometimes up to a year.
And How does a branding project Actually run?
Typically an awful lot happens before you get to the ‘design’ stage, such as stakeholder interviews, market research and competitor analysis. Only once research has allowed us to create an agreed strategy do we even think to start working on the development of initial ideas. From there it’s a very collaborative approach, usually taking a couple of routes forwards for further development, until we reach a point where everyone thinks it works. After that it becomes an exercise in roll-out, across pre-defined collateral, and of course guidelines to enable consistency in future use.

Endeavour are quickly able to grasp our intended outcomes and work backwards from those to advise and co-create with us. I have always valued their consultative approach to designing all manner of assets that help us to both go-to-market and enhance our end deliverables.

Endeavour were great to work with and did a fantastic job on our rebrand. They really seemed to get who we are and what we do, which meant the final result reflected our brand much more accurately than the previous approach. It feels like they breathed new life into our business and it’s going to make a big difference moving forwards.

I started Endeavour with the idea that we could do things a little differently to other design agencies. I wanted us to be more than just the ‘colouring-in’ department; we’d see the bigger picture, understanding the client’s end goals and how we fit in. We’d take a long-term view, always looking out for our clients’ best interests. And we’d be nice people to work with, without all the agency aggro.

We encourage all staff to keep learning continuously, both through our studio's ever-growing library (which covers behavioural science, advertising, branding, design, marketing and business) and through relevant training like courses in finance and Mark Ritson’s MiniMBA in Marketing. The more we know, the more we can help you.
